  You have absolute power in your country for 1 hour; what do you do?

  hm ... well, I would issue decrees that would end the war in the Middle East, cut pollution down to as little as possible (with a goal of virtually nothing) I would draw up multiple plans for getting alternative, eco - friendly sources of energy - the more sources the better, I would make a plan for fading out the oil companies and possibly turn them into companies that produced alternative energy. I would make more public transportation available, and encourage people to use it. I would make sure more attention was given to recycling. To help with population control I think I would make it so that a couple could only have one child of thier own (though they could adopt more if they wanted) I would make sure evreyone got decent healthcare, rework the education system so that there would be enough funding for academics and fine arts classes, and less funding for sports (I mean, funding so that sports teams and PE classes can exist is fine, but new uniforms evrey few years, and all the money they spend when the team goes away - I mean, if the choir has to buy thier own food when they take a field trip, so shall the football team. I mean ... buying lunch and dinner for the whole track team while the art teachers have to buy thier own supplies? no, that would get reworked.) I would also get rid of no child left behind ... sorry, the no school left standing act and the ridiculous tests and silly requirements that go along with it. I would make it easier for high school students who can and want to take colege classes during high school, I would make college at the very least cheaper, if not free. I would make it harder (think virtually impossible) to buy firearms. I would close School of the Americas, denounce torture, jail all those in the current administration who only care about power, and start go back to actually working with the UN. Then, to make sure that no one would actually undo what I did, (and because an hour would not be nearly enough to make sure that evreything got done that needed to get done ... I'm sure in this post alone I've forgotten many things) I would make my power last for more than an hour so that I would be able to keep making positive changes.
